Philip W. Stephenson

I architect multicloud and GenAI solutions for enterprise accounts — pairing Oracle AI Database 26ai, RAG, and cross-cloud platforms like Database@Azure and Database@AWS with three decades of product launches, release management, and strategic business development. The result: technical wins that convert into bookings, not just proofs of concept.

Portrait of Philip W. StephensonPS

Architecting multicloud and AI-driven outcomes, backed by 30 years of technical credibility

Today, I'm a Principal Cloud Architect driving multicloud and GenAI wins for enterprise accounts — designing solutions across OCI, AWS, and Azure, building live demos on Oracle AI Database 26ai's AI capabilities, and briefing C-level stakeholders on what those capabilities mean for their business. I use AI-assisted engineering and research to prototype technical work and understand each customer's business before I walk into the room.

That current chapter sits on top of a longer one: core database platforms, engineered systems, and enterprise storage, with a consistent thread of taking complex technology and making it sell. I've release-managed flagship platforms through multiple major versions, built the go-to-market motion behind them, and watched markets shift from on-premise to hybrid to multicloud — pattern recognition that now helps a deal or a demo move faster because I've already navigated the failure modes once.

Where I add the most value

  • Multicloud Architecture (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • GenAI & RAG Solution Design
  • Oracle AI Database 26ai (Vector Search, JSON Duality, Spatial)

  • Executive Briefings & Technical Demos
  • Data Replication (GoldenGate)
  • Product Management & Strategy
  • Release Management
  • Business Development
  • Strategic Partner Development
  • Enterprise & Cloud Architecture
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Go-to-Market Strategy
  • Executive & Field Enablement
  • Oracle Core Database
  • Exadata / Engineered Systems
  • Oracle Database Appliance

Results, organized by what they solved

Multicloud & AI/GenAI Innovation

  • Delivered $1M+ in new multicloud bookings in FY26, winning and expanding Oracle Database@Azure and Database@AWS engagements plus a GoldenGate@Azure win, across financial services, logistics, and industrial manufacturing accounts.
  • Built a live Oracle AI Database demo combining Spatial, Vector Search, JSON Duality, and RAG for an optimized routing use case; entered it into an internal Oracle demo competition.
  • Delivered executive briefings on natural-language database querying and AI-driven predictive credit-risk modeling, translating GenAI capability directly into C-level business value.
  • Leads quarterly AI and data-platform value engagements — workshops, proof-of-concepts, and developer days — building lasting technical credibility with enterprise accounts.

Product Launches & Revenue Growth

  • Grew Oracle Exadata Database Machine revenue from $30M to over $500M in two years, release-managing the platform from V1 through X2-8.
  • Directed strategic partner development and outbound activity for Oracle Database Appliance across on-premise, hybrid cloud, and cloud architectures.
  • Closed $6.3M in software license sales at 107% of quota, opening 5 new major accounts each generating $500M+ in annual revenue.

Product & Release Management

  • Owned end-to-end release management for flagship engineered systems, from feature specification through GA and field readiness.
  • Built product roadmaps and ran Beta programs, evaluating enhancement requests from customers, ISVs, and systems integrator partners.
  • Founding advisor for the IOUG Exadata Special Interest Group, established to grow customer adoption of the platform.

Strategic Partnerships & Enterprise Sales

  • Led a global business development team supporting large, strategic accounts across North and South America.
  • Developed 22 new enterprise accounts, delivering multi-terabyte storage deployments and follow-on systems engineering engagements.
  • Sold and delivered multi-million-dollar hardware, storage, and professional services engagements as a certified partner engineer.

Thought Leadership & Technical Communication

  • Co-authored Oracle9i Mobile (McGraw-Hill Osborne Media / Oracle Press).
  • Delivered speaking engagements at Oracle OpenWorld, the Oracle Executive Briefing Center, IOUG events, and customer sites.
  • Produced field- and customer-facing technical collateral, training, and sales enablement across multimedia and web platforms.
